Multi Skills

In Multi Skills, the learners’ work towards a City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma in Construction Skills. This course provides a basic introduction into the various trades within the Construction industry and includes, Health and Safety, Carpentry, basic Plumbing, Painting and Decorating, Wall Tiling and basic Electrical Installation. The course is very practical based with the learners’ given ample time and encouragement to practice the variety of skills. Once they feel confident in their abilities, they are able to be formally assessed. The assessment is low key, with the learners’ given all the information that is required to satisfactorily complete the assessment. The assessment is marked to industrial standards and if a learner does not fully meet these standards, they will be given the opportunity to retake it. Once completed these are put into a portfolio, and this is built up as the learners’ progress in the course.

​Learners’ work at their own pace and are encouraged to think for alternative solutions to a specified task. 

The workshop has a calm atmosphere, and learners’ are actively encouraged to ask questions and develop their own styles and skills. There is some theory, to enhance the learners’ knowledge, together with Maths and English, but based around the Construction Industry and its requirements for trade operatives.
